What does “loose-leaf premium blend” mean here?

In tea talk, “loose-leaf” means the herbs come as loose dried plant pieces, not ground up inside little paper bags. You scoop it, steep it, and strain it. Bigger pieces usually mean more flavor and aroma in your cup. And “premium blend” is how we name the blends Herbalist Kareem designed for the shelf, as opposed to the custom blends you build yourself at the tea bar.

What’s Inside: Base, Support, and Flavor

When I build a blend, I think in three parts. The base is the foundation, the herb the whole formula leans on. The support herbs are the team that backs it up. And the flavor is what makes you actually want to take it every day, because if it don’t taste right, you won’t stick with it. Here’s how Her Balance Herbal Tea Blend breaks down.

Base: Ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera)

A cornerstone of Ayurveda. The name roughly means “smell of the horse,” for its earthy aroma and the strength it was known for. Traditional use: Traditionally used in adaptogenic wellness blends for stress balance.* It’s the base.

Base: Schisandra berry (Schisandra chinensis)

The “five-flavor berry.” Traditional use: Traditionally used in Chinese herbal practice to support vitality and resilience.*

Support: Red clover

Traditional use: Commonly used in women’s herbal wellness formulas.*

Support: Nettle leaf

Traditional use: A traditional nutrient-rich botanical.*

Flavor and calm: Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis)

A lemony member of the mint family. Traditional use: Traditionally enjoyed for calm and relaxation.* It also gives the cup its bright, lemony lift.

Why caffeine free matters

Every herb in this blend is naturally caffeine free, according to the product page. That means you can enjoy it in the morning, after lunch, or in the evening without the jitters. A lot of our customers in Peoria keep one caffeine-free blend for the evening wind-down, and this can be that cup.

What Does It Taste Like?

Gentle and herbal. Lemon balm brings a soft lemony mint note, schisandra adds a little tart, berry brightness, and ashwagandha and nettle ground it with an earthy, green base. Honey pairs beautifully.

How to Brew It, Step by Step

Okay, family, pen and paper out. It’s not rocket science.

  1. Heat your water. The product page says 8 to 10 oz of hot water.
  2. Measure 1 to 2 teaspoons of Her Balance Herbal Tea Blend into a tea infuser, a strainer, or straight into your teapot. One teaspoon for a lighter cup, two for a fuller one.
  3. Steep 5 to 10 minutes. Cover your cup while it steeps so the good aromas stay in the cup and not in your kitchen. Longer steep, stronger cup.
  4. Strain and enjoy. Enjoy it warm, or let it cool and pour it over ice.
  5. Sweeten if you like. A little raw honey or agave works great. Taste it first, though. You might not need it.

A little goes a long way. Loose-leaf tea brews stronger than the powdered teabags sold in stores, so you only need 1–2 teaspoons per 8 oz of water. That is why one 2 oz bag lasts over 30 days.

Make it iced

Arizona, I know you. Half the year we want everything over ice. Brew a stronger cup (use the full 2 teaspoons and the full 10 minutes), let it cool, then pour it over a tall glass of ice. Want a pitcher? Multiply it out: about 1 to 2 teaspoons for every 8 to 10 oz of water, steep, strain, cool, and keep it in the fridge. Squeeze a little lemon in there. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Make it a ritual

Here’s what I tell folks at the tea bar: tea works best as a ritual, not a chore. Same cup. Same time. A few quiet minutes. Put the phone down while it steeps. That pause is part of the gift. And keep up the basics, family: water, greens, movement, rest.

From our tea bar to your kitchen

When folks sit down at our tea bar in Peoria, I watch the same thing happen every time. First sip, they get quiet. Second sip, they start asking questions. What’s this flavor? Where does this herb come from? How do I make it taste like this at home? That’s the whole point, family. I want you to be able to make a great cup in your own kitchen and teach your family members and loved ones how to do it too. Ain’t no gatekeeping over here. Use good water, measure your herbs, respect the steep time, and don’t rush the cup. Do that, and your kitchen becomes your own little tea bar.

Loose-leaf tips

  • Store it right. Keep your tea sealed tight, away from heat, light, and moisture. Not on top of the stove.
  • Shake the bag. Herbs settle, so give it a gentle shake before you scoop so every cup gets a little of everything.
  • Re-steep? Many roots and berries can take a second steep. Just know the second cup will be lighter.

Who May Enjoy Her Balance Herbal Tea Blend?

In general, this tea may suit adult women who:

  • Want a calming, caffeine-free evening or afternoon cup.
  • Like gentle, lemony herbal flavors.
  • Are building routines for stress balance and mood alongside rest and good food.*

I love herbs. I’ve been teaching about them for a long time. But herbs are real plants with real strength, and natural does not mean right for every single person. So let’s be grown about it.

Talk to your healthcare provider first if you:

  • Are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or nursing.
  • Take any prescription medicine or over-the-counter medicine. Herbs and medicines can affect each other, and only your provider or pharmacist can look at your full list.
  • Are managing any ongoing health condition.
  • Have a surgery or procedure coming up.
  • Are thinking about giving it to anyone under 18.

Notes about specific herbs in this blend

These notes are about the single herbs, not test results for this tea.

  • Pregnancy and nursing: Ashwagandha is not considered safe in pregnancy. Ask your provider first.
  • Ashwagandha: Rare reports link ashwagandha to liver problems. It may also affect thyroid levels and interact with sedatives and thyroid, blood sugar, or immune medicines.
  • Red clover: May act in hormone-related ways. Ask your provider if you have a hormone-sensitive condition or take hormone therapy.
  • Lemon balm: May add to the effect of sedatives or sleep aids.
  • Allergies: If you have plant allergies, read the full ingredient list first.
  • Medicines: Herbal teas are gentle, but they’re still plants. If you take daily medicine, ask your provider or pharmacist before making any herbal tea a daily habit.

Good habits with any herbal product

  • Follow the label. Take only the suggested amount.
  • Tell your healthcare provider about every herb and supplement you use, including this one.
  • If you notice anything unusual, stop and call your provider.
  • Keep it in the fridge after opening and out of reach of children.

I can’t give personal medical advice in a blog post, and I won’t pretend to. If you have a question about your own body, your provider is the right person to ask. Bring the bottle with you so they can read the label.
